2027 Corvette Grand Sport to Complete Chevrolet’s C8 Lineup, Engineer Says

Chevrolet says the 2027 Grand Sport will round out the eighth-generation Corvette lineup, Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder said on The Gas podcast.

Holder said the automaker is "never completely done" with a model but that the Grand Sport typically arrives late in a generation's life cycle. Chevrolet confirmed the 2027 Grand Sport will use a 6.7-liter LS6 V8 rated at 535 hp and 520 lb-ft, which Chevrolet says is the most torque from a naturally aspirated V8.

The Grand Sport will sit between the Stingray and Z06 and offer selected performance features at a lower price. Chevrolet also unveiled the Grand Sport X hybrid, pairing the LS6 with the ZR1X hybrid system to produce 721 hp and replacing the E-Ray.

Holder did not give a timeline for a C9, and Chevrolet said the Grand Sport will be the final major C8 variant for now. Chevrolet added it may offer bespoke commissions and one-off creations before the next generation arrives.
