Volkswagen unveiled the second-generation 2027 Atlas full-size SUV, built on an updated MQB platform and sharing exterior styling and a front fascia with the China-market Teramont Pro.
As SUVs made up 80% of Volkswagen's U.S. sales in 2025 and the Atlas represented a large share, the refreshed model keeps a similar shape while adding physical door handles instead of the Teramont Pro's electronic ones and three new colors: Sacramento Green, Blackberry and Sandstone.
The interior is reworked with a standard 12.9-inch touchscreen and an optional 15-inch unit used in the Tiguan, featuring haptic touch sliders for volume and HVAC while retaining a multi-use physical volume knob on the center console that also selects drive modes and lighting.
Material quality is improved with real wood on upper trims and available Nappa leather, though much piano-black plastic remains and smudges easily, and Volkswagen added ambient LEDs in the door cards and passenger-side dash that change color.
