Honda Tops U.S. Full-Line Automakers in Real-World Fuel Economy

Honda posted the highest real-world fleet average fuel economy among U.S. full-line automakers, averaging 31.0 mpg for its 2024 model-year lineup, the EPA’s 2025 Automotive Trends Report found.

The EPA noted Honda’s 31.0 mpg was 3.8 mpg above the industry average and followed a 2.7‑mpg year‑over‑year gain, though preliminary 2025 estimates show Honda at 29.6 mpg; hybrids—helping Honda surpass 400,000 U.S. sales in 2025 with record Accord, Civic and CR‑V hybrid figures—and Tesla’s 117.1‑mpg EV equivalent highlight different measures of efficiency.
