Video footage posted online suggests the updated Ford Mustang GTD completed a Nürburgring lap in 6:41.74, which would eclipse the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s recorded times if confirmed.
The claimed 6:41.74 time, shared by StatesideSupercars and noted to possibly be off by a second or more due to sightlines, would also place the Mustang GTD ahead of cars like the AMG GT Black Series and Porsche 911 GT2 RS variants.
Ford told The Drive "Like we said, game on." The company previously tested a modified Mustang GTD in October after Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X set faster laps, and Ford has not yet confirmed the new time.
