Car and Driver’s benchmark tests show the 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Plus accelerates quicker but records worse skidpad and braking numbers than the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody.
The Charger posted 0.90 g on the skidpad versus the Challenger’s 0.96 g and required 177 feet to stop from 70 mph compared with 148 feet for the Challenger. The tested Charger weighed 4,889 pounds versus the Challenger’s 4,352 pounds, and it ran on all-season tires.
A Dodge spokesperson told Car and Driver that stickier summer tires will be offered on the gas-fed Charger later this year. Powertrains differ: the Charger uses a 550-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six while the 2019 Challenger used a 485-hp naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8 (392 Hemi), and the Challenger left Dodge’s lineup after the 2023 model year. Despite its extra weight and all-season rubber, Car and Driver measured quicker straight-line performance for the Charger: 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds versus 3.9 seconds for the Challenger, and 0–100 mph in 8.8 seconds versus 9.3 seconds.
