Tesla’s 2016 "Master Plan Part Deux" identified heavy‑duty trucks and high‑passenger urban transport for electrification, and only the Tesla Semi has advanced toward production. The Tesla Semi has not entered full production.
In recent quarterly calls, Tesla said it is focusing on non‑consumer projects such as the Cybercab and a robotaxi service while developing Optimus generation‑three androids and AI chips for Grok and Full Self‑Driving. Tesla also said Fremont production will shift from the Model S and Model X toward robot manufacturing. Elon Musk has a history of teasing future products without firm timelines, so the timing and specifics of this potential larger vehicle remain unclear, even as Tesla continues production of the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck.
