Ford and GM Charge $2,795 Destination Fee on Full-Size Trucks and SUVs

Ford and General Motors now list a $2,795 destination charge on new full-size and heavy-duty pickup trucks and full-size SUVs, according to a TFL Truck survey of online configurators.

The fee applies across Ford and Lincoln models and to Chevrolet and GMC pickups and SUVs, while Cadillac's Escalade carries a $2,895 destination charge. Ram's 1500 showed a $2,595 fee and Toyota's Tundra a $2,095 fee at the time of the survey.

Both Ford and General Motors spokespeople declined to give specific reasons for the increases, saying destination charges "reflect factory to dealer vehicle shipping costs" and are reviewed relative to market conditions. A Ford spokesperson added the company averages shipping costs so customers pay the same amount nationwide and noted smaller vehicles carry lower destination fees. Destination charges have risen as much as 48% since 2021, and automakers say such fees are reviewed and adjusted as necessary to reflect shipping and market costs.
