General Motors CFO Paul Jacobson told attendees at the Bank of America Global Automotive Summit that the company expects "exponential growth" for subscription services and will include eight years of basic OnStar plus three years of Super Cruise on new vehicles.
Automotive News reports about 13 million people currently subscribe to GM services across OnStar and Super Cruise, generating roughly $20 in monthly revenue per subscriber.
After scaling back its Cruise robotaxi operations, GM shifted some assets and focus into the Super Cruise advanced driver-assistance system, a decision criticized publicly by Cruise’s original founder.
The three-year Super Cruise trial combined with extended OnStar coverage is intended to give buyers ample time to evaluate the services before committing to subscriptions.
