Angelo Ram, the owner and builder, swapped a Lexus V8 into his 1995 Mitsubishi Montero to replace an underpowered imported diesel and improve performance on highways and mountain passes.
The conversion required custom motor mounts, modified cooling because the stock Lexus radiator would not fit the engine bay, a transfer case adapter and ECU tuning to integrate the drivetrain into the Montero.
Ram said he undertook the swap to maintain highway speeds and comfort—about 70 mph with air conditioning—on winter trips to Spokane, and he shared photos and the build story in a Montero Facebook group.
