Barrett-Jackson will auction a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS used in the pilot episode of the 1980s television series Magnum, P.I., at its Palm Beach event next month.
Barrett-Jackson says the car comes with documentation including letters from a Ferrari historian and the F-Register that indicate the car appeared in Magnum, P.I.'s first season, and the seats were modified to accommodate actor Tom Selleck's height.
The Ferrari 308 GTS is powered by a 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 with four Weber carburetors rated at 230 horsepower, paired with a five-speed gated manual transmission, limited-slip differential, and four-wheel disc brakes on 15.4-inch Cromodora wheels.
Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Crema interior, the Ferrari 308 GTS features air conditioning, power windows, pop-up headlights and a removable targa roof, and will cross the block mid-April with no reserve; another show-associated 308 GTS recently sold for just over $100,000.
