Jeep Hints Manual Transmission Could Return to a Wrangler-Like Model

Jeep hinted that a Wrangler-like model will regain a manual transmission, Aamir Ahmed, Jeep's head of off-road and EVs, told CarBuzz.

Jeep discontinued the manual Gladiator in September 2024, telling Motor1 the eight-speed automatic paired to the Pentastar V6 "is chosen by most Gladiator owners today."

Ahmed did not explicitly name the model, but observers note the Gladiator is the only current Jeep that resembles the Wrangler and previously offered a stick shift, and Jeep did not immediately provide clarification to media requests.

CarBuzz suggested the manual may have been dropped during the Gladiator's 2024 refresh to simplify production and could be returning as production catches up, but Jeep has not confirmed timing or the specific model.
