Subaru Reveals 2027 Getaway: 420‑HP Electric AWD SUV Debuts in New York

Subaru unveiled the 2027 Getaway at the New York Auto Show as an all-electric SUV that comes standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive, 420 horsepower and a claimed sub‑5‑second 0–60 mph time. Subaru positioned the Getaway as a more powerful counterpart to the Toyota Highlander EV.

The Getaway launches with a 95.8‑kWh battery claiming more than 300 miles of range and will offer a dual‑motor model with a 77.0‑kWh pack in the first half of 2027. It features an NACS charging port, 150‑kW DC fast charging (10–80% in about 30 minutes) and battery pre‑conditioning.

Both Getaway motors are the same units used in the Trailseeker for even power delivery, and Subaru includes X‑Mode with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, downhill assist control and Grip Control as standard. Subaru rates the Getaway to tow up to 3,500 pounds and provides 8.3 inches of ground clearance.

Styling highlights for the Getaway include six‑light daytime running lights that display charge status, an illuminated front logo and a relocated tailgate license plate, while Toyota’s dual‑motor Highlander is listed with 338 hp for comparison.
