Hegseth Halts Probe After Army Apaches Fly Over Nashville Protest and Visit Kid Rock

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth lifted a suspension and halted an investigation into two U.S. Army AH-64 Apache crew members after the helicopters overflew an anti-authoritarian protest in Nashville and stopped at musician Kid Rock's hilltop residence.

The U.S. Army had identified and initially suspended the aircrew, and the service says it is conducting an internal review of the crew’s adherence to regulations and airspace requirements. A video of Kid Rock saluting the pair of AH-64 Apaches at his Nashville home went viral and helped prompt the Army's response. The Combat Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne previously faced scrutiny after a 2021 stadium flyover that led to Army and FAA inquiries, and an Army report found senior brigade officers engaged in misconduct during an overseas deployment.
