Hyundai Unveils Boulder Concept SUV Tied to Upcoming U.S.-Built Body-On-Frame Pickup

Hyundai unveiled the Boulder, a boxy body-on-frame SUV concept at the New York auto show that complements the automaker's confirmed midsize body-on-frame pickup planned by 2030.

The Boulder is named after the town of Boulder, Colorado and was created by Hyundai Design North America in Southern California. Hyundai President and CEO José Muñoz said the production body-on-frame truck will be designed, developed and built in America using American Hyundai steel.

The concept emphasizes modular, off-road-ready hardware with pronounced fenders, stacked lights, a twelve-hole grille, chunky bumpers, tow hooks and a large roof rack. Exterior details include 37-inch mud-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, safari-style door windows, a dual-hinged tailgate with spare-tire mounting and an interior built around multiple screens and a slim head-up display.
