Max Verstappen Criticizes Suzuka Qualifying and Questions Enjoyment of F1

Max Verstappen, four-time Formula 1 World Champion and Red Bull Racing driver, was eliminated in Q2 at the Japanese Grand Prix qualifying and said the session and current regulations made it "not as it should be."

Verstappen told Motorsport.com the onboard footage from 130R, where drivers lost more than 50 km/h due to "super clipping," illustrates the problem, and he said today's laps were tougher than last year to keep the RB22 on track.

Verstappen said he is considering life decisions and that the current state of Formula 1 has reduced his enjoyment, noting long seasons away from home and that enjoyment is key to performance.

He acknowledged using GT outings to retain enjoyment and said discussions about rule changes may now happen behind the scenes, an approach reportedly shared internally at Red Bull.
