A delegation from the Buenos Aires city government and promoter Grupo OSD will attend the Miami Grand Prix to meet Liberty Media and present progress on redeveloping the Autodromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez as part of efforts to return to the Formula 1 calendar.
The Autodromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez redevelopment is planned in two phases, with phase one focused on hosting MotoGP and a subsequent phase proposing an extension to nearly 5km to meet Formula 1 requirements.
Buenos Aires sports secretary Fabian Turnes said the project has met formal, technical and operational requirements and that the advisory firm Tilke has been engaged following Liberty Media’s recommendation.
Fabian Turnes added officials may accelerate the Formula 1 extension to be ready if a calendar slot opens for 2027 as several current F1 contracts end and geopolitical events could reshuffle dates.
