Mercedes-Benz Recalls 3,734 Electric G 580s Over Wheel Bolt Loosening Risk

Mercedes-Benz has recalled 3,734 electric G 580 with EQ Technology vehicles built between Feb. 26, 2024 and Aug. 19, 2025 because wheel bolts may loosen and impair driving stability, increasing the risk of a crash.

The issue was discovered during Mercedes-Benz internal durability testing and the recall report noted the wheel bolts’ connection to the hub might loosen while driving; the bolt in question is an M14x1.5 conical-seat part (A0009901807) used across many models.

Mercedes-Benz said a deviation in the development process left the bolt unadapted to the electric variant’s higher vehicle mass and torque—about 1,400 pounds heavier than the G 550 and 859 lb-ft of torque from four motors.

Mercedes-Benz AG evaluated the bolt design and validation methodology, pursued parallel redesign and new test-procedure development from February to April 2025, and validated the test bench and procedure from July through September 2025.
