Ford of Europe’s market share fell to 2.8% in January–February as registrations dropped 20.3% to 55,025 units, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.
Ford of Europe has no new non-SUV models scheduled until a partnership with Renault delivers two electric vehicles built on Renault’s Ampere platform, with the first due for sale in early 2028. Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company, told Top Gear magazine the company is developing "passion products" and pledged "no more generic vehicles," adding it will execute cars "with a swagger" whether based on Volkswagen or Renault platforms.
Per the same association data, BYD registered 36,069 cars (1.9% share) and SAIC registered 41,454 cars (2.1% share), narrowing the gap with Ford of Europe.
Focus production ended last November, leaving Ford of Europe reliant on crossovers such as the Puma and Kuga and the low-volume Mustang while it waits for the Renault-built EVs.
