Krack Says Aston Martin-Honda Partnership Remains Intact Despite AMR26 Struggles

Mike Krack, chief trackside officer at Aston Martin, said there are no issues between the team and engine supplier Honda despite their troubled start to the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Aston Martin switched from customer Mercedes power units to a works partnership with Honda for 2026, but the Adrian Newey-designed AMR26 has struggled for both performance and reliability, with Honda engines generating vibrations that damaged batteries and raised driver health concerns.

At Honda's home race in Suzuka the team officially finished a race for the first time with Fernando Alonso, two-time world champion, but Alonso placed 18th well outside the points; Lawrence Stroll, billionaire team owner, was seen shaking hands with Koji Watanabe, president of Honda Racing Corporation.

Krack said Aston Martin has made initial reliability gains but now faces major performance work during the midseason break to meet its targets.
