Artemis II Crew Captures Striking Earth Photos From Orion as Commander Wiseman Logs Tablet Glitch

The crew of NASA's Artemis II photographed Earth from the Orion spacecraft Integrity using mission tablets, capturing city lights, auroras and the sunlit horizon.

Commander Reid Wiseman said the view "paused all four of us in our tracks," and Jeremy Hansen, onboard mission specialist from the Canadian Space Agency, said the team was "glued to the window" and missing meals.

Wiseman took the images on a Personal Computing Device (tablet), including a long-exposure shot showing city lights and auroral bands as the Sun set behind Earth, and shorter exposures that look more night-like.

Wiseman also reported a software problem with Microsoft Outlook on his tablet that required ground support from Earth to resolve, and the Artemis II crew has continued sending photos from the Orion spacecraft Integrity.
