Jaguar described how its Type 00 prototype preserves low, classic proportions and range by repositioning part of the battery pack ahead of lower structures, Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s Managing Director, said during an early test drive.
The four-door GT stands about 55 inches tall, and Jaguar says the forward battery placement required rethinking energy management and impact behavior to avoid raising the car or sacrificing range or performance, Rawdon Glover said. Glover said the solution reconciles conflicting priorities of range, proportions and dynamics without following typical EV packaging compromises.
Jaguar also achieved a 0.23 drag coefficient for the Type 00, which Rawdon Glover described as the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever while maintaining the brand’s design purity rather than following typical rounded EV shapes. Rawdon Glover said Jaguar expects a decisive shift away from its previous design language and that the Type 00 will "drive like a Jaguar."
