Lucid to Bring Mid-Size Cosmos SUV to UK in 2027

Lucid will enter the UK market in 2027 with the mid-size Cosmos SUV, which will be unveiled later this year and manufactured at the company's recently completed plant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Cosmos sits on an all-new platform featuring a bespoke 800V electrical architecture and more compact, efficient electric motors, and Lucid plans the off-road-focused Earth for 2028 followed by a larger Cosmos derivative. Lawrence Hamilton, Lucid's European president, told Autocar that the Cosmos was engineered for right-hand drive from the start, while Air and Gravity would require costly conversions.

Lucid has signed its first German dealer group and intends to use traditional dealers in the UK rather than the continental "studios," with no current plans for European production. Hamilton said the company has the liquidity to continue developing its mid-size range, is on track with Gravity production, and will not pursue range-extender technology.
