Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Brings Hybrid 4WD and V8 to Europe

The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray debuts in Europe as the first electrified, four-wheel-drive Corvette, combining a 6.2-litre LT2 V8 with a 160bhp front electric motor and a small battery.

Priced around £153,000, the E-Ray pairs a 482bhp V8 with a 1.9kWh spine battery and a Mitsubishi-supplied front motor, delivering 4WD for the first time in the model's 73-year history.

On a 320-mile motorway run in Scotland the Corvette E-Ray averaged 32.1mpg while harvesting 4.1kWh, and features magnetorheological dampers and 3LZ "GT2" buckets for refined long-distance comfort.

Stealth mode enables a few miles of silent electric driving up to 35mph, though electric range is limited; Chevrolet positions the E-Ray as a more versatile, GT-capable Corvette.
