Marcos Revives Mosquito Prototype and Mid-Engine Sports Car Plans Under Howard Nash

Howard Nash, who owns Marcos' rights and assets, plans to relaunch the British marque with a 300-hp Mosquito prototype and a separate mid-engine road car expected this year.

The Mosquito produces about 300 horsepower, weighs roughly 1,500 pounds and uses Mini suspension, engine and gearbox as a testbed for a potential limited-run track car. Nash told UK magazine Car that feedback has been "extraordinary" and that the car "handles beautifully."

Nash said Marcos has a rolling chassis for a mid-engine sports car that weighs about 1,400 pounds and makes roughly 250 horsepower; he has driven it and said it's "a lot of fun." The mid-engine model could debut before the end of the year.

Marcos employs about 46 people and Nash acquired all rights, including the original logo, enabling the company to build parts, restore models and offer engineering services. Marcos also holds the build records for nearly 4,000 cars.
