Ferrari officially authorized a one-off 1995 Ferrari 900cc motorcycle built by David Kay, a scratch-built machine that took more than 3,000 man-hours and is the only motorcycle permitted to display Ferrari badging.
Ferrari is known for tightly controlling its trademarks and brand image, including legal action over perceived violations and strict access to limited-run vehicles for buyers.
David Kay contacted Ferrari for permission during the build and received approval from Maranello, allowing the bike to carry the prancing horse logo on its tank.
The Petersen Automotive Museum provided context on Ferrari history, noting Enzo Ferrariās work at Alfa Romeo, the founding of Scuderia Ferrari in 1929, and the establishment of Auto Avio Costruzioni in Modena in 1939.
