McLaren Reserve Leonardo Fornaroli Completes 900km-Plus F1 Tests in MCL60

McLaren reserve driver Leonardo Fornaroli completed his first Formula 1 tests in the team's 2023 MCL60, covering more than 900 km across sessions at Barcelona and Silverstone.

Fornaroli, the 21-year-old reigning Formula 2 champion who did not secure a 2026 race seat, ran 112 laps (512 km) at Barcelona on 23–24 March and 68 laps (393 km) at Silverstone on 7 April.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, McLaren chief business affairs officer, said Fornaroli "made fantastic progress" and highlighted his consistency and rapid learning, while McLaren described the Silverstone programme as longer runs with varied fuel and tyre mixtures.

Fornaroli said he continued to improve and valued the chance to test different set-ups, and McLaren said he will have further outings at a variety of circuits while supporting the team both trackside and in the simulator.
