Alpine A110 Returning as All‑Electric on Renault’s APP; U.S. Market a Possibility

Alpine will replace its current A110 with an all‑electric model built on Renault's Alpine Performance Platform (APP); the new A110 could be sold in the U.S.

Production of the current A110 ends this summer because its electrical architecture cannot support mandatory driver‑assistance systems such as automatic emergency braking. Luca de Meo, former Renault CEO, had earlier signaled a U.S. return but left Renault in September 2025 amid tariff and planning challenges.

The APP is a lightweight, bonded‑and‑riveted aluminum architecture and will use two rear‑mounted electric motors driving the rear wheels; Alpine has not disclosed power or torque figures. David Twohig, former chief vehicle engineer and program director, told MotorTrend that Renault had seriously considered a U.S. launch of the outgoing A110 but crash regulations for unbelted occupants prevented that plan.

A new A110 is nearing final development and will be built on the APP architecture, replacing the outgoing model when it launches.
