Range Road Moto tested a lightly modified Honda Grom against the Honda Trail 125 and found the Grom outperformed the Trail in most off-road competitions, with the Trail only holding an advantage in deep water fording.
Range Road Moto highlighted the Honda Grom's low gearing, torque and agility as well suited to groomed trails and hill climbs. The channel noted the Grom's limited top speed and short suspension reduce its capability on rough, technical terrain compared with higher-suspension dirt bikes.
The video said fitting a snorkel could address the Grom's water limitations and that the Grom's manual transmission would improve the Trail 125's trail performance. Range Road Moto concluded the Honda Grom is a more capable all-round trail machine despite not being built specifically for off-road use.
