Gianpiero Lambiase, Red Bull race engineer and head of racing, has agreed to join McLaren in 2028, Motorsport.com reports.
Lambiase is contracted with Red Bull until the end of 2027 and could join McLaren sooner if the teams agree an early release; Dutch paper De Telegraaf first reported the move and Motorsport.com confirmed it with sources.
At McLaren he is set to support team principal Andrea Stella in a senior trackside role. Speculation that Lambiase's move is part of a plan for him to succeed Andrea Stella is understood to be wide of the mark.
The switch follows several senior exits from Red Bull, including Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay, and comes as four-time world champion Max Verstappen contemplates his future; Verstappen's Red Bull contract runs to the end of 2028 with exit clauses.
