A Northern California Honda dealership quoted $8,000 to repair a head-gasket leak on a 2018 Honda Accord, but Honda-certified mechanic Adrian Aceves of Aceves Automotive completed the same repair in one day for $3,800.
Adrian Aceves posted a TikTok showing the teardown and confirming the dealership’s diagnosis of a head-gasket leak between cylinders two and three, and he walked viewers through the repair process. He said he used aftermarket parts including $400 ARP head studs and avoided a machine-shop cylinder head resurface that could have added several hundred dollars.
The video has more than 22,000 views and helped increase visibility for Aceves Automotive, which opened in late March. Aceves told Motor1 that dealer overhead and OEM parts and labor rates raise costs, allowing his independent shop to charge less.
