Kia Plans US Mid-Size Pickup and Global Flagship EV, Targets 1.02m Sales by 2030

Kia announced at its investor day that it will build a mid-size body-on-frame pickup for the United States with electric or range‑extended hybrid powertrains and a global flagship electric SUV, targeting 1.02 million sales by 2030.

Kia said the pickup will be offered with electric or range‑extended hybrid powertrains and plans to double its hybrid lineup from four to eight models. Automotive News reported Kia aims to sell 90,000 US trucks by 2034.

Kia said one of three new global models will be a "flagship volume EV" and the company will introduce a next‑generation EV architecture before 2030. Kia plans to expand EVs from 11 to 14, including a compact EV1, and now expects 1 million EVs annually, down from a prior 1.3 million projection.

Kia's current electric flagship is the EV9 on the Electric Global Modular Platform. Hyundai said it will deploy Atlas robots at two US factories by 2029.
