Nissan Z Goes Order-Only as Nismo Manual Returns and Special Editions Planned

Nissan updated the Z sports car, reinstated a manual gearbox for the high-performance Nismo model and converted the Z to order-only sales, the company said.

Ponz Pandikuthira, Nissan senior vice president and chief product & planning officer for the Americas, told The Drive the company will emphasize the Z’s heritage and create special editions and short-run "animation" variants over the next three years.

Pandikuthira said dealers will no longer receive default allocations and must request inventory, which Nissan expects will let buyers better specify configurations and help raise the Z’s profile in U.S. product planning while the GT‑R remains the brand’s top performance priority.
