McLaren has appointed Kemal Curic as its new chief of design, replacing Tobias Sühlmann, former chief design officer who left for Porsche earlier this year; Curic joins from Ford where he led roles at Ford Performance Vehicles and Lincoln.
Kemal Curic joined Ford in 2004 and worked first as an interior designer, contributing to the Mk3 Focus and later leading styling of the S550-generation Mustang. He was most recently head of design for Lincoln and relocated to Woking this month.
McLaren said Curic will be responsible for shaping the design vision and creative direction across interior, exterior, CMF and digital design for the McLaren Automotive portfolio.
McLaren is preparing a ground-up product renewal and expansion into new segments after its merger with start-up Forseven, and is due to preview its first Forseven-developed model this summer; it is not clear whether Curic influenced those early designs.
