Kyle Busch’s NextGen Slump Highlighted by Denny Hamlin on Actions Detrimental Podcast

On his Actions Detrimental podcast, NASCAR driver and podcaster Denny Hamlin said Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion now driving for Richard Childress Racing, has struggled for about five years and has not won since June 4, 2023 at Gateway.

Hamlin said Busch “just doesn’t know how to consistently get speed out of the NextGen car,” adding that Busch’s three 2023 wins came when teams were still guessing on setups and that on-track parity has since increased.

Hamlin compared the slump to Jimmie Johnson’s decline after 2017 and said Busch cannot consistently best teammate Austin Dillon in equal equipment, while questioning where Busch might land after his contract ends this season.
