Cadillac Confirms Colton Herta for Four FP1 Sessions, F1 Weekend Debut at Barcelona

Cadillac confirmed Colton Herta, its test driver, will contest four FP1 free-practice sessions in the 2026 Formula 1 season and will make his F1 weekend debut at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix on June 12-14.

Herta will occupy an FP1 slot provided under the rule that requires regular race drivers to miss two FP1 outings to allow drivers with limited grand prix starts to take part; Cadillac said the other three FP1 appearances will be announced later.

Colton Herta left IndyCar after seven seasons to join Cadillac and is also racing for Hitech in Formula 2, where he scored six points after one weekend as he aims for an eventual F1 race seat.

Cadillac has not scored points after the opening three rounds but sits ahead of Aston Martin in the standings, and Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon described Herta as a top talent and said the FP1 programme is a natural development step.
