Porsche Manthey 911 GT3 RS Laps Nürburgring in 6:45.389; Ford Mustang GTD Competition Posts 6:40.835

Porsche returned to the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a Manthey-equipped 992.1-generation 911 GT3 RS and, with in-house development driver Jörg Bergmeister at the wheel, recorded a 12.9-mile lap of 6:45.389, 3.939 seconds quicker than the standard production GT3 RS.

Porsche said the Manthey suspension and aerodynamic package produced the gains, allowing the GT3 RS to run from Pflanzgarten II to the Schwalbenschwanz under full throttle, a section Porsche described as previously almost impossible for road cars.

On the same day Ford announced that a Mustang GTD Competition completed a Nürburgring lap in 6:40.835, a faster time that Ford presented for a Prototype/Pre-Production classification.

Official time charts list the Manthey-equipped Porsche GT3 RS as a Sports Car and the Ford Mustang GTD Competition as a Prototype/Pre-Production, so the Mustang's lap is recorded separately from Porsche's sports-car result.
