Colton Herta, a test driver for Cadillac’s Formula 1 team and a rookie in Formula 2, has ruled out attempting to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and the F2 round at Montreal on the same day and said he will prioritize his F2 campaign and Cadillac commitments.
Formula 2 added rounds in Miami and Montreal after pausing its Middle East schedule, creating a potential calendar clash with the Indy 500; Herta said missing Carb Day and the logistics made a same-day double impractical.
Herta scored a seventh-place finish in his F2 debut in Australia and said he welcomed the extra North American races that avoid a long break after cancelled Bahrain and Saudi rounds.
During the break he attended the Grand Prix of Arlington, said he still follows IndyCar closely, but does not expect to race in IndyCar this year despite nine career IndyCar wins.
