Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali Urges US-Style Owners Meetings to Strengthen Commercial Unity

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali told Motorsport.com that Formula 1 should adopt American-style owners meetings to improve commercial coordination among teams while preserving on-track competition.

Domenicali said teams must continue to fight on track but align off-track on a shared commercial vision, and he credited projects such as Netflix's Drive to Survive and F1: The Movie with expanding reach and sponsorship opportunities. He added that some teams initially resisted commercial projects like Drive to Survive but later recognised their positive effect on awareness and sponsorship.

Domenicali highlighted that Formula 1's global fanbase has grown, with more younger and female fans and stronger appeal in the United States, and attendance at races has reflected that demographic shift. He said the sport's complex ownership structures make unified commercial decision-making more difficult and urged teams to act collectively on projects that benefit the whole series.
