TikTok creator Shantell (@iiamshantell) posted a video showing a person who appears to deliver fuel via AAA roadside assistance and using a portable tank to top off her vehicle to avoid high pump prices.
AAA says its roadside assistance can deliver fuel to members, typically one to two gallons to get drivers to the next station, and deliveries can be requested via the Auto Club app or by calling the number on a membership card. The company says virtual-assistant requests usually take under four minutes and the app provides an estimated arrival time and tracking, while coverage for fuel cost varies by membership level.
Viewers on TikTok reacted with praise and warnings, with some urging Shantell to delete the clip and others noting members are generally allotted four service calls per year. Reddit users on r/Frugal advised checking specific membership terms and annual limits to avoid using calls needed for emergencies, and overuse could risk renewal denial.
Motor1 contacted Shantell via TikTok messages and AAA via press email for comment and said it would update if either responded.
