Acura Unveils Integra 40 Racer Tribute Ahead of Long Beach Debut

Acura unveiled the Integra 40 Racer on its 40th birthday, a tribute to the Comptech No. 48 IMSA International Sedan Series winner built by Honda Racing Corporation that will debut at the Acura-sponsored Long Beach Grand Prix on April 19.

The Rio Red Metallic hatchback is powered by a period-correct D16A1 1.6-liter four-cylinder upgraded with a Monsoon ECU and coil-on-plug conversion, breathing through a stainless steel 4-2-1 long-tube header and Borla exhaust mated to a five-speed manual and Torsen limited-slip differential.

The suspension uses Tein coilovers and an adjustable panhard bar, steering and brakes are manual, and 14-inch wheels wear Yokohama Advan A050 semi-slick tires; the interior includes a roll cage and racing seats with six-point harnesses. Acura launched in the United States on March 27, 1986 with the Legend and Integra, and the Integra helped define Acura’s sporty image; Acura now faces uncertainty after Honda cancelled next-generation EV projects including an Acura crossover and paused RDX production.
