Alex Palou Wins 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach After Late Caution

Alex Palou, Chip Ganassi Racing driver, won the 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach after overtaking Meyer Shank Racing's Felix Rosenqvist following a late caution and pit-stop sequence, taking sole ownership of the championship lead.

Felix Rosenqvist, Meyer Shank Racing driver, led the first 51 laps of the 90-lap race as it ran caution-free through the first two-thirds, until carbon-fiber debris that was struck by Alexander Rossi and later by Josef Newgarden altered the race dynamics.

Most teams had committed to a two-stop strategy, and the late caution sent the field to pit road for fresh tires; a slightly slow stop for the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing crew allowed Palou to edge ahead on the restart and hold the lead for his third win of the season.

Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing driver and Palou's teammate, finished third to secure his first podium of the season and said he was pleased to be back on the podium while expressing sympathy for Rosenqvist after the decisive pit exchange.
