Audi Scherer-Phx R8 Wins Second 2026 Nurburgring Qualifier; Verstappen Side-Lined by Damage

Drivers Christopher Haase, Ben Green and Alexander Sims won the second 2026 24h Nürburgring Qualifier in the #16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 for Team Scherer-Phx, finishing 28.024 seconds ahead of the Abt Lamborghini #84.

The Manthey Porsche #911 with Thomas Preining held third after fending off late attacks, while the AMG-backed Winward Mercedes #80 received a 32-second penalty for a minimum pit-stop infringement that cost the team a better result.

Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen and Lucas Auer featured strongly early in the Winward Mercedes #3, but Verstappen made an unscheduled pit stop after ten laps to repair a damaged front splitter, a repair of about 25 minutes that ended their challenge, and the Scherer-Phx Audi led for most of the race.

The pole-sitting Kondo Ferrari #45 retired after a lap-five collision while lapping traffic, the Falken Porsche #44, Dunlop Porsche #17 and BMW Z4 #36 did not start after qualifying incidents, and a minute of silence honored Finnish driver Juha Miettinen, who died following a multi-car collision.
