Ayao Komatsu Visits Coventry City and Praises Player Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

Haas Formula 1 team principal Ayao Komatsu visited Coventry City Football Club during a break after the Japanese Grand Prix, taking part in training and speaking to Sky Sports F1 about Coventry City player Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and the World Cup.

Komatsu, who became Haas team principal ahead of the 2024 season, told Autosport he began supporting Coventry City when he lived in the city and noted the club added its first Japanese player last year.

During his visit Komatsu said to Sky Sports F1 that Sakamoto’s work rate and mental resilience have earned respect inside the squad and that World Cup selection would be “the icing on the cake.” Haas sits fourth in the 2026 constructors’ standings after three rounds with 18 points, behind Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren.
