BMW Driver Juha Miettinen Dies After Seven-Car Crash at Nürburgring Qualifier

BMW driver Juha Miettinen, 66, died after a seven-car crash in the opening hour of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifier (NLS4) on Saturday.

The collision in the Klostertal section prompted an immediate Red Flag and the race was suspended while safety crews tended to drivers. Stills from in-car cameras later showed the seven cars involved, including the No. 121 Keeevin BMW 325i.

ADAC officials said paramedics extricated Juha Miettinen from his car but resuscitation attempts failed and he was declared dead at the medical centre. The six other drivers were taken to the medical centre or nearby hospitals for precautionary examinations and none are in life‑threatening condition.

ADAC said the race would not resume on Saturday evening and a minute's silence will be held during Sunday's grid formation at 13:00; the organisers said their thoughts are with Miettinen's bereaved family. Juha Miettinen had been defending a class win in last week's NLS3.
