BMW's M3 Touring wagon won the SPX class and finished 12th overall at an NLS Nürburgring race, outpacing more than a dozen GT3 cars in qualifying and the race.
Drivers Connor de Phillippi and Neil Verhagen, who are set to run the wagon at the Nürburgring 24, were competing in the 12 Hours of Sebring, so Jens Klingmann and Ugo de Wilde drove the NLS entry. Qualifying produced a combined Nordschleife and GP Strecke lap of 7:58.943, placing the M3 Touring 14th on the grid and first in SPX.
The M3 Touring posted a best race lap of 8:01.723 and secured the SPX class victory while complying with tire regulations on a packed grid. Ugo de Wilde uploaded an onboard test video showing the wagon behaving like a dedicated race car despite its long roof and rear doors.
