Bob Power, father of two-time IndyCar champion Will Power, wrestled with an armed suspect in Toowoomba on April 6 as police moved in to end a multi-day carjacking and pursuit.
Police say the 39-year-old suspect stole multiple vehicles beginning April 4, including a Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, SsangYong Musso and a Toyota Land Cruiser after robbing a residence, and led officers across several highways before being tracked to Herries Street.
Bob Power told 7NEWS Australia he grappled with the man, opened a car door to get his dog out and told the suspect "don't shoot me" before officers arrived; Power was uninjured.
Police arrested the suspect about 12:50pm local time and recovered a shotgun at the scene.
