Buyer Joseph Szpak Says SilverRock Denied Coverage After 2020 GMC Yukon XL Engine Failure

Joseph Szpak, a Texas-based builder and contractor, says the engine in his 2020 GMC Yukon XL failed about three months after he bought it from Carvana and that SilverRock denied his extended-warranty claim, leaving him with major repair costs and a dispute involving Carvana and Bridgecrest Acceptance Corporation.

Szpak says the failure occurred while the vehicle was still within Carvana’s 100-day limited warranty but exceeded the mileage cap by three miles, and he describes a process in which Carvana, Bridgecrest and SilverRock each directed responsibility elsewhere.

Szpak says he spent about $20,000 out of pocket for a new long-block engine, installation at a shop within the warranty network and rental car expenses, and that he still owes roughly $40,000 on the loan while continuing to be charged for the extended warranty.
