Chevrolet Sonic Returns as Compact SUV Coupe in Brazil, on Sale in May

Chevrolet of Brazil has teased the next-generation Chevrolet Sonic as a compact SUV coupe scheduled to go on sale in May in Brazil, and Chevrolet has not announced U.S. availability.

The lone teaser image shows the nose, partial headlights and an illuminated Bowtie badge, and Chevrolet said the model debuts an updated Chevrolet logo. Alexandre Ameri, Head of Design at GM South America, said the bowtie is slightly more horizontal and black is the predominant color.

Chevrolet provided one concrete spec, a length of 13.87 feet, placing the Sonic a few inches longer than the Chevrolet Bolt and still in the subcompact range.

Chevrolet said the Sonic will slot between the Onix Activ and the Tracker in GM South America’s lineup rather than replace an existing model, and described the car as combining advanced design and technologies for the segment; further technical details were not released.
