Costco will open its first standalone fuel-only gas station in Mission Viejo, Orange County, in June; the site will be reserved for Costco members only.
According to the Orange County Register, it will be Costco's largest gas station and the chain's first location without a convenience store. ABC7 reports the Mission Viejo Freeway Center site at 25732 El Paseo, just off the 5 Freeway, will encompass more than 17,000 square feet and include 40 fueling stations.
The project required demolishing a shuttered Bed, Bath & Beyond to clear the site, the reports say. ABC7 also says Costco plans a separate standalone gas station in Hawai'i expected to be completed next year.
The Mission Viejo station will be members-only, and a full-service Costco warehouse is located about two miles from the new site. When it opens in June, Costco will have this as its only fuel-only location.
