Dodge Charger Sales Lag as Durango Captures Showroom Share; CEO Matt McAlear Stays Optimistic

Dodge's redesigned Charger has posted weak early U.S. sales while the three-row Durango now represents more than 89% of Dodge's sales, and CEO Matt McAlear says it's too soon to judge the Charger.

Stellantis' delayed U.S. electrification push after the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and long stretches without comprehensive redesigns left Dodge playing catch-up, even as the new Charger platform was engineered to accept both electric and internal-combustion powertrains.

Matt McAlear told The Drive he remains "bullish" on the Charger and highlighted that Dodge has launched Scat Pack and R/T variants within the first year while the Hurricane inline-six was planned for the platform.

Dodge says EV production is already underway and that additional variants and offerings are coming as the company continues its product rollout, even as early sales figures draw scrutiny.
